Iceland is located in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic Ocean.  The country is characterized by a dramatic landscape that is comprised of volcanoes, lava fields, geysers and hot springs.

Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, is believed to be the country's first permanent settlement.  It was founded in 1785 as an official trading town.  Most of Iceland's population resides in Reykjavik.  The city's coastline is defined by islands, peninsulas, straits and coves.  Reykjavik is known to be one of the world's greenest, cleanest and safest cities.
